OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson students are expected to:  be able to communicate a message in written language  be able to write an informal letter following the conventions of organization and layout  integrate reading with writing and be able to elicit useful information from a written text in order to transfer this information to some other kind of writing. Students’ background: Anticipated problems: Students have not yet mastered writing techniques even in their mother tongue and this deprives them of transferring relevant knowledge to the foreign language. Their limited exposure to the layout of letters in the foreign language which is different to the layout of letters in their mother tongue makes them unable to express themselves appropriately. In addition, their vocabulary is also limited. 68
