Students’ background: There are 20 students in the class, all aged 12. They have a
background of about 250 teaching hours of English at school. However, students are
of a mixed ability as there are some of them who also attend afternoon classes in
private schools. The students have been taught vocabulary related to food items in a
preceding lesson.
Anticipated problems: Students have not yet mastered writing techniques even in
their mother tongue and this deprives them of transferring relevant knowledge to the
foreign language.
