OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson students will be able to:  take under consideration their interlocutors’ feedback  use certain language functions to express themselves  support their arguments and accept or reject others’ suggestions  integrate speaking with writing Students’ Background: There are 16 students in this class. They are all aged 12. It is a mixed ability class with some students attending afternoon classes and others who do not. There are many who underachieve and look indifferent. Students are usually asked to produce controlled language with the teacher focusing on the production of grammatically correct sentences. Anticipated problems: Students are not used to producing long utterances or take part in situations where they have to take under consideration the listener’s feedback. They also tend to use their mother tongue when work in groups or pairs. 71
