a. A list of ten destinations is written on the board. Students individually select their
three most favourite destinations.
b. Pairs are formed with the teacher taking care that the students who form a pair have
at least one common choice but not all.
c. Using rhetorical devices of negotiation, argument and persuasion students try to
convince their partner that their choices are better.
d. Once the pair reaches a consensus within the time limit imposed, two pairs form a
group where the process continues as it is described in (c) above.
e. Finally, the groups who reach a consensus within the time limit imposed are
entitled to take part in a whole class discussion. The aim is that all students can agree
to a common suggestion.
