TRANSCRIPTION OF THE MONOLOGUE
T: I am going to tell you a story, OK? so .this is a story as I told you which was..
which happened on April 13th…right? About a month ago ..and it’s a story about three
friends…there are three friends who have a hobby in common…all three of them like
riding motorbikes…right?
Ss: yes.
T: their names are John Nick and Mike…don’t write down anything now…OK? Just
listen…Right?
Ss: yeah
T: So there John Nick and Mike and…they’ve got three very beautiful brand new
motorbikes…John has got a red …Honda…Nick has got a yellow BMW…I repeat

Honda…Nick has got a yellow BMW and Mike has got a red Suzuki…all these
friends are very young…in fact John is twenty two Nick and Mike are twenty one
years old…right?...now…It was Sunday morning April 13th…right?
Ss: yeah
T: and the three friends decided to go for a ride…to take their motorbikes for a
ride…because it was a very beautiful weather…now…as soon as they started…they
live in Kozani not far from here …right? So they started their trip but as soon as they
started their trip Mike saw that there was no petrol in his tank…so he had to stop to
fill in some petrol in the tank…OK?
Ss: yeah
T: He said to the others that they …that there is ..there was no need for them to stop
and wait for him…he would catch them up soon…so the others continued their trip
and he stopped at the petrol station to fill in …eh…his tank…now when he…put
some petrol he was in a hurry because he wanted to reach them and he drove very
fast ..and as he was not very careful while he was trying to overtake a car…he fell off
his bike…the car driver saw him as he was…as he fell off his bike and what did he
do? He stopped his car immediately and he called the ambulance…the …the
hospital…and the police …now what happened to the two friends who were going on
the trip…is that they were very worried about Mike because he did not appear…so
they returned back to look for him and they were very shocked when they saw people
in the road ..cars stopped…and their friend was lying on the…on the street…a few
minutes later the ambulance arrived and he was taken on a stretcher to the
hospital…minutes later a police car arrived and two policemen came and they asked
questions about how the accident happened…luckily…Mike was not very seriously
hurt because he was dressed very well…leather clothes and a helmet and the doctors
said that he would be OK in a few days …OK?
