Xiaofan: This is from a collection I created earlier this year. Mr Deer travelled to many places in my works and received a lot of love online! It was just fun to bring him to various locations that I couldn’t travel to myself. Snow is one of my most painted subjects too – living in summer all the time really makes you miss winter like crazy. “ It feels like the paint has its own expressive idea and sometimes the result surprises me the right thing – including, I’m pleased to hear, us. ‘After I checked you guys out online and read your story I was really excited and felt honoured! It’s always the little behind-the-scene stories that touch my heart. I have worked with many big magazines and newspapers, but the exchange always feels so official. Xiaofan is an untamed little wolf, with a wild heart full of colour and paints; a naturally talented engineer, intelligent, yet unfulfilled and wanting something more from life. It sounds like so many of us who fall into career paths we’re not satisfied with, but not many of us want or are able to take that plunge. It’s daunting and it’s not always financially viable, so is it worth it? ‘Every morning I wake up excited,’ she says. ‘I can’t wait to create something new.’
