s r e t t e l r u o Y Dear AmicusHorizon I am 79 and have lived in my home for 17 years and I love it here. I don’t want to leave my neighbours but I am starting to struggle with a few things at home. It’s nothing too serious, but I am a bit unsteady on my feet and find it hard getting in and out of the bath. I don’t want to move but can you do anything to help? Best Wishes Mrs R M North, Sussex region Dear Mrs North Yes, we can help! We want our older residents to remain in their homes and stay independent for as long as possible. We can help with minor adaptions such as putting grab rails over your bath. Simply complete our online adaptions form www.amicushorizon.org. uk/Repairs-Maintenance/Adapting-yourhome.aspx or call us on 0800 121 60 60. In time, if you need further adaptions such as an easy to access shower instead of a bath, we can help with this too. For these bigger changes you’ll need to contact your local authority and an occupational therapist to advise on the exact requirements. They then make recommendations, so we can alter your home to meet your needs. Dear AmicusHorizon I’m getting fed up with the parking in my road. It gets very busy, especially at the weekend. I’ve got a neighbour who parks one small car in two spaces, it’s very annoying. I just want to be able to park my car safely and not too far from my house. Thanks Mr Bryan, Kent region Hello Mr Bryan, Thanks for your letter. Parking can be a big issue on many roads. If you feel comfortable, it may be worth having a friendly chat with your neighbour about the parking. They might not be aware how much room they are taking up. Another idea to consider is a garage. We have lots of garages to rent near many of our estates. The cost is very small and you have the peace of mind of knowing that your car is safe and secure. Contact your local Area Support Assistant on 0800 121 60 60.
