THE ROLE OF THE POLICE
Duration: 30 mins - 1 hour
Suitable for: Students | Where possible, students to prepare questions they wish CLO to answer.
Through informal discussion we will look at different types of departments within Police Scotland
and there will be opportunities for participants to ask questions raised in relation to the role of
a Police Officer. If required, a further more in depth input is available on the specialist role of
the Mounted Branch within Police Scotland, including a history of the department, its roles and
functions and training and equine recruitment.
Learning Outcomes
• Challenge participants to make informed choices about how to deal with conflict situations and
keep themselves and others safe
• Support young people to make positive, informed decisions and choices around the issues
of violence

Looking to discuss practical advice on how to keep safe whether out and about or at home.

• Give participants a better understanding of how best to keep themselves safe
• Raise awareness of National Mobile Phone Register
• Raise awareness of bogus callers
