RAISING ASPIRATIONS / The Hive HOPE, INSPIRATION AND VISION IN EDUCATION The HIVE (Hope, Inspiration and Vision in Education) is a bespoke learning space which focuses on preparing young people for their next steps. The programmes aim to develop essential skills, motivation and self-confidence in an innovative and engaging way. Here we hear from two people who have really prospered after studying at the HIVE. Garry Graham I studied at the HIVE for four years. I really benefited from the Leadership Academy programme before progressing into PEZ (Personal Empowerment Zone), PEZ Plus and then the Uniformed Services course. I gained various skills and received support from all the staff. This encouraged and motivated me to believe in myself. I am now employed by the British Army and living in Germany. “The Hive encouraged and motivated me to believe in myself.” Robert Atkinson I was a student at the HIVE for two years studying PEZ Plus, Step Into Youth Work and NC Working with Communities. I wanted to come to Ayrshire College as I had left school with no real qualifications. Being at college really helped me build my self-confidence. I learnt how to write essays, and gained valuable work experience helping the Inclusive Learning team at the Kilmarnock Campus. The whole experience was very interesting and enjoyable and I would recommend the HIVE to anyone. I will hopefully be joining the British Army at the end of the year.  4 THE STUDENT VOICE: EDITION 3
