SPECIAL FEATURE TIPS AND TRICKS FOR STUDENTS 16-25 Railcard Tips and Tricks FOR STUDENTS TRAVEL DISCOUNTS When you’re a student, there’s no doubt you’re going to be travelling almost every day. To make the money in your pocket stretch a little further, make use of any travel discounts you come across. There are a couple of travel discounts readily available for students.   STAGECOACH UNIRIDER If you travel by rail, you may want to take a look at the 16-25 Railcard. While it’s called the 16-25 Railcard, mature students have no fear: you’re eligible for the railcard so long as you’re a full-time student. The 16-25 Railcard gives you 1/3 off a Standard Anytime, Off-Peak, Standard Advanced and First Class Advanced fares. This also applies to National Rail journeys too, not just locally. If you travel by bus, you should have a look into the West Scotland Stagecoach Unirider ticket. ...you can get a 10-week ticket for £130 There are different zone tickets depending on where you travel within Ayrshire. For each of the Ayrshire areas – North, East and South, you can get a 10-week ticket for £130. If you travel through the different zones, you can get an Ayrshire wide Unirider ticket for £216. This gives you unlimited travel within your selected zone. ...the 16-25 Railcard gives you 1/3 off a Standard Anytime, Off-Peak, Standard Advanced and First Class Advanced fares. There is one caveat with the 1625 Railcard in that it cannot be used before 10am. If most of your classes are going to be 9am starts, you may well be better off with a weekly or monthly season ticket. Please note that the student railcard cannot be used with season tickets. If you are interested in a 16-25 Railcard, it costs £30 for one year. There is a 3-year card available for £70.
