Cherish what is yours
This seems like an obvious one, but being students that are
constantly encouraged to dream, aspire, and achieve, you can
often forget to appreciate what you have here and now. You
live in a generation inspired by the internet, multimedia and in
particular, social networking. While these aspects of modern
society have their perks, they can also endure feelings of
sadness and envy towards those who appear to have
something better than you. Remember that you are your
own unique person and no one can replace you. Try to
eliminate all feelings of envy and instead, learn
to be inspired and embrace the positive
attributes of others.

Be a part of
the world
If you’re feeling low, think of
yourself as part of something
bigger. Whether you are
a Christian or Buddhist, or
active member of Green
Peace or you simply help
your neighbour with her
shopping once a week, it
is these interconnected
structures which make up
your community, culture and
planet. Never forget that you
are always a valued inhabitant
of this planet and take the
opportunity whenever possible
to show some compassion
and interact with your fellow
earthlings. Not only will you
make yourself feel good but
you’ll probably make other
people feel good too.
