Tourism Conference
Tourism students hosted a
‘Next Steps’ tourism conference
recently, raising the profile of the
College as a provider of tourism
education and training.
The event was a fantastic
opportunity for HND Tourism
students to showcase tourism in
Ayrshire, Scotland and beyond.
Pupils from five Ayrshire secondary
schools were invited to the
conference at our Kilmarnock
Campus, which provided
information on Tourism as a first
choice career for pupils after they
leave school.
Representatives from organisations
like East Ayrshire Council, Stuart
Travel, HRG, and the Scottish
Maritime Museum provided
support and information at the
event. Sponsorship was provided
by Costley and Costley, Buzzworks,
Vanilla Joes and Blow and Glow.
Guest speakers included the
Scottish Tourism Alliance and Ace
Adventures Carrick.

Tourism student Devlin McCloskey
had a management role in the
event. He said “the most rewarding
aspect of organising the event was
hearing delegates, guest speakers,
industry partners and our lecturer
Richard Canale give positive
feedback about the success of the
conference. It gave us all a sense of
great pride in our achievements.”
