SPECIAL OLYMPICS
2017
Five of our students have been selected to take
part in the 2017 Special Olympics in
Sheffield on 7-12 August
Excitement is growing amongst the five athletes who will
represent the west of Scotland.
We spoke with them in the build-up to the event to hear
how their preparations are going and what they’re most
looking forward to about the Special Olympics.
Laura Logan,

I’ll be swimming at the Special
Olympics. I represent the South
Ayrshire Swim Team right now
and they see me as one of the
best swimmers.
Jack Dickson,
Connect to Enterprise
Prestwick Tennis Club chose me
to go to the Special Olympics.
It’s going to be really good.
Tennis is my sport, I’ve played it
for ages.
I could possibly get a medal. I
have a good serve. My favourite
tennis players are Novak
Djokovic and Andy Murray.

I’ll be playing singles and
doubles. We’re training in
Prestwick and in Scotstoun right
now. We’re doing well.
I’m sure my family will be proud
of me and will cheer me on in
Sheffield.
Before August, I’ll be training
hard so that I can aim for gold
medals. I want to enjoy myself
and enjoy the experience.
Already I’m excited about
this. It’s a big deal and a big
challenge.
My friends and family are also
excited for me. My parents will
be going to watch me.
