CHEFS WIN COMPETITION AT SCOTLAND'S BIGGEST FOOD TRADE SHOW A TEAM OF HOSPITALITY STUDENTS AT OUR SKILLS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN IRVINE WAS VICTORIOUS IN THE PRESTIGIOUS COUNTRY RANGE STUDENT CHEF CHALLENGE! “ We are over the moon to win this prestigious award. Working all those extra hours to perfect the menu was really worth it. 16 ” The talented female trio scooped the coveted top award and gold medal when they competed against seven other teams at the live final, held during ScotHot 2017 at Glasgow’s SECC. ScotHot is Scotland’s biggest annual food, drink and hospitality trade show. Professional Cookery students, Iona Duncan, Agnieszka Dudko and Katarzyna Hospodarewska, are the first Ayrshire College students to win the prestigious competition. The team showcased their culinary skills by cooking a creative three course, fine dining menu. The winning team will receive a once in a lifetime opportunity to work with the Craft Guild of Chefs Culinary Team to cater for over 1,000 guests at the Craft Guild’s Annual Awards 2017 in London. As well as this prize, they will be treated to a night in a 5-star hotel and dinner at a Michelin star restaurant. Agnieszka said “We are over the moon to win this prestigious award. I’m looking forward to moving on to the next level in professional cookery.” As well as winning the Student Chef Challenge, another three medals were brought home to Ayrshire by David Welsh and Clare Gordon who won silver, and Chloe White who won bronze for Bakery Skills.
