Ayrshire College held
its first ever digital
conference, Data
Changes Everything,
which was an official
fringe event of
DataFest17.
DataFest17, organised by The
Data Lab, was a celebration of
innovation showcasing Scotland’s
data science capabilities and
attracting international experts in
data science to Scotland.
The conference was organised
to help realise the potential of
digital in Ayrshire. Central to
this are our students who are
Ayrshire's future talent. The
conference was an opportunity
for them to network with local
employers, building a digital
community in Ayrshire and raising
their aspirations towards an
exciting digital career. Currently
13,000 new jobs in Scotland
require digital skills indicating is
a high demand for talented data
people.
The conference presented a
range of perspectives on data
innovation and best practice.
Digital is disrupting how
we do business and, to be
sustainable and innovative in
this information age, we all need
to embrace the changes arising
from developments in digital
technology. This conference was
a timely opportunity to consider
how to ensure these changes
convert into opportunities.
Leading data experts from
health, tourism, engineering,
retail and computing gave
presentations to 150 delegates.
This was followed by a digital
“
We are at the
beginning of the
data revolution.
