APPRENTICES START AT PRESTWICK
AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE LTD
Eleven students from HNC Aeronautical Engineering have started life as
apprentices with Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance Ltd (PAML).
They are Andrew Davidson, Andrew Fulton,
David Gracie, Stuart Hastings, Cameron
Henderson, Christopher Hill, Jack Leitch,
Sam Lewis, Kyle McIver, Fergus Mitchell, and
Andrew Muir.
Four other students – Dhanyal Baig, Megan
Brodie, Cameron Cruickshanks, and Sam
Piper - have also been employed by PAML as
Trainee Mechanics and started at the end of
September.
PAML is a facility at Prestwick Airport operated
by Ryanair to carry out heavy maintenance
duties on its fleet of aircraft.
THE STUDENT VOICE EDITION 7
The College students gained their new
positions as a result of a mutually beneficial
partnership that sees PAML recruit their new
apprentices directly from the College.
Cameron Henderson said “I was always
attracted to engineering because I am
interested in learning how and why things
work. Ryanair has given me the chance to
become a licensed Aircraft Engineer while
Ayrshire College has some of the best facilities
in the UK, so I’m looking forward to this
apprenticeship.”
The Apprentice Engineers will combine their
time between PAML’s Prestwick base and the
Ayr Campus.
