Hi, I’m Natalie! I came to WSHS several months ago because where I was living was bad news
for a cat. When I arrived, people thought I was a crabby cat with the strange behavior of
attacking my tail. Shelter staff wondered if I might have a neurological condition causing me to
hate my tail. They took me to the vet and it turned out that I had a badly displaced hip, possibly
from being hit by a car or being kicked really hard. I was in such pain and to me, my tail was
the culprit so I tried to get rid of it. It took two surgeries by some very wonderful doctors to
make me pain-free at last.
Since my earlier life knew little affection and lots of defensiveness, I have been learning how
to accept love unconditionally while my body heals. I am now 100% healed physically (although I may have a permanent
limp) and am about 80% healed emotionally. Living in a foster home these last few months where the people are so kind
ha s really helped me a great deal. My foster mom would love it if I could be adopted without having to come back to the
shelter, so if you are a cat savvy person and don’t have kids under 14 in your life, I might be the cat for you. We aren’t sure
how I am with cats and dogs, but I am willing to give them a try as long as I get plenty of time to adjust at my own pace.
