THE GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR
End of the
Summer: The Great
Allentown Fair
By Alexxis Steele @ ALLENTOWN FAIRGROUNDS SEPTEMBER 1, 2016
Once again it was that time of the year that
heralds the end of the summer, the last hurrah
of outdoor things to do when Labor Day leaves
us to let fall weather set in.
This year in 2016 our new Steel Notes Allentown team got together to have some fun
riding some rides, eating, playing games and
seeing some shows at The Great Allentown Fair
and Maingate Nightclub.
Alexxis Steele, Mick Reynolds, JR Muffley, Traci
Dunton Shaw, Sherri Max Sweeney and Chris
Black embarked on our journey to the land of
Funnel Cakes, steak sandwiches, and the wheel
of fortune to win some candy.
Jr & Traci couldn’t wait to board the Khaos ride
which swings you high in the sky and flips and twirls,, not for the faint of heart , as I taped it live for Facebook.
As luck may have it, my favorite ride Coyote Run is still in operation, and I coerced first- timer Mick Reynolds
to go on the ride with me. This year the fair had a great turnout as it did in previous years when you would always run into someone you had not seen in years, and were walking elbow deep with the crowd.
We went through various rides, and games such as the wheel of fortune for candy, which Jr always cleans up on
every year. Every year they have different kinds of shows, and this year it was about the wolves that were really
cool, and they even allowed us to pet a baby wolf.
Besides the amusements, games, food and shows, you can’t leave the fair without catching some of the live music
at The Main Gate with local favorites like The Cherry Bombs, M80, and Stereotype. I have included some photos
