‘Centre d’excellence artistique De La
Salle’, the ‘Centre de danse
contemporaine’ and the School of
Dance, all of which are leading
organizations in the field of arts and arts
education in Ontario.
The theme for this year’s festival is
"Metamorphosis". There will be two new
dance styles added to last year’s modern
and urban dance workshop agenda - Indian
and African dance. Students will also have
the opportunity to see contemporary
dance performances by ‘Tara Luz Danse’,
‘Centre de danse contemporaine’ and
‘Dorsale danse’.

As well, students will attend a performance
by the ‘Companhia Urbana de Danca’ at
the National Arts Centre. This Brazilian
multi-cultural troupe performs the kinetic
street dances of Rio de Janeiro with
boldness, vigor and abandon, in an
inventive mix of hip-hop, samba, capoeira
and contemporary dance. The troupe
will also be offering a workshop during
the festival.
The ‘Festival de danse’ features
performance collaborations between
professional dancers and students, who will
be accompanied by a strong team of
professionals (musicians, video artist and
technicians). The workshop activities will
be designed for beginners as well as more
advanced students so all can participate at
their own pace. All activities will be
presented entirely in French, having a great
impact and encouraging pride in the
participants’ francophone identity.
