He made us standout and made us really good.” While he grew to love the game, it still wasn’t going to take him to college. He always felt he had another purpose in life. He felt protecting others and making sure they have freedom is what he was meant to do. It’s a brave thing for a young man to want to make sure others are safe. Putting your life on the line a tough decision one needs to make. When enlisting, an individual knows he or she may have to go overseas. Basinski took all that into consideration when making his final decision. While it did cross his mind, he knew this was what he wanted to do. “It didn’t really hit me until I left for boot camp,” stated Basinski. “I started preparing myself. I have a different mind set. I want to go over there. I want to serve my country. I am doing this for them (my family), so they can live their happy life; at home without any problems. I just think about fighting for them and it gets me through the day.” April Issue the tryouts. But, from that day on, I loved it.” While playing for school and club, Basinski got to learn from the best. He learned from Robert Pierce. Pierce knows a little something about the game. His daughters and son all have gone or are attending Penn State University, where they are stars on the volleyball team. While Pierce may not be the type of coach for everyone, he was the coach for Basinski. Basinski loved how he would go about his business and make sure the players worked on all aspects of his game. “It was difficult as first, because he gets the point across in a different way than must coaches do,” stated Basinski. “I have to give it to him, he is probably one of the best coaches in New York State, if not the entire country. He took my entire family, myself, brother and my sister and made us great. My brother is a A-1 National team for the United States and my sister is doing really good.
