This is a first for me to tell you that my dear husband in the 20 years we have known each other has made a reservation at a spa for US! It was my birthday this past March and I believe that was the catalyst behind the surprise. You see in my business of travel and writing I always make the reservations, suggestions on where we would go in our travels. Therefore he has been hesitant and has never made any reservation until now. So ladies and gentleman…. Drum roll…. he booked an overnight and a side-by-side couples massage as my birthday gift. I am excited, not only does this represent ‘us’ time but it also has a wellness component and the plus side is he is not shy about going to a spa. What a guy! There should be applause playing in the background don’t you think? I just realized that if my husband can do this for me, this maybe the beginning of more to come! One night away every so often is so rejuvenating. I am excited just to have a 24-hour pass from home. I’m leaving the moody teenagers behind to look after the dogs and away we go.
I might be up early that morning with a big grin on my face, I might be even be whistling! Bet your last Tim Horton’s coffee we will be leaving by noon and arrive at the hotel early, guaranteed there will be a glass of wine in my hand by 2 pm. That much anticipated massage is booked for 5 pm and so looking forward to it. It doesn’t take much to feel like a giggly teenager again does it?
