Worcester and Droitwich Branch Coffee with... Siani Price, Worcester Mums Network This issue, we caught up with Siani Price, the creator of the very popular Facebook group Worcester Mums Network to find out more about it. Siani is a local mum herself, so was able to spot and fill a gap in the support available to other parents in similar situations. How would you describe Worcester Mums Network? What are its functions? The Worcester Mums Network was created to provide a safe, nonjudgemental place for mums from Worcester and the surrounding area to network, socialise, and find advice and support. We hold real-life meet-ups as well as providing a 24/7 online ‗safe space‘ to go and ask or discuss a very wide range of topics without fear of criticism. (24/7— there's always someone online doing the night feed!) What gave you the idea to create it? After the birth of my daughter, I found that many of the online forums such as Babycentre, Netmums and Mumsnet were extremely quick to judge and criticise. Motherhood felt like a competition, and it wasn't an enjoyable experience. Some of the toddler groups I went to were rather intimidating, and I felt that there was a great need for a place where mums could be honest and open about their difficulties, without being attacked for it. When and how did you start? I created the Facebook group (which is a closed group, nothing within the group is visible to non-members) in January 2014, by adding my mum friends, who added their mum friends...things snowballed until now, we have over 1600 members!
