Naomi Wallace and
A.R. Gurney Join Signature
as Residency One Playwrights
Signature kicked off the 2014-15 Season with plays by two new Residency
One playwrights, Naomi Wallace and A.R. Gurney. Wallace’s And I and
Silence, about the unlikely friendship of two incarcerated women in 1950s
America, posed powerful questions about race, gender, and power.
Gurney’s rarely-seen play The Wayside Motor Inn gave audiences a glimpse
into the lives of ten strangers in a 1970s Boston motel, and the unexpected
connections between them. It’s a unique and exciting opportunity to have
these two essential writers in conversation with each other this season.
