EXCEPTIONAL EVENTS. “Chuck Mee, true to the title of his last show with Signature, possesses a big love. A big love for life. The love stories and great theatrical events you see in his plays truly represent his own approach to the world — that life is beautiful, exciting, messy, and unpredictable. So when we honored Chuck at our annual gala at the end of his 2007-08 season, we filled the night and the room with ‘things Chuck loves’ — red berets for everyone to wear, a marching band that burst into the room, serenades from singers, an accordion player, and lots of chocolate. And last, but definitely not least, the night ended with a huge explosion from confetti cannons, placed all around the room. It was the only way such a truly celebratory evening could end.” – Erika Mallin, Signature Executive Director 22
