WHAT IS

LASERTAG?

It's probably our most popular activity, and it may surprise you to hear its not just a kids game.

Let's start at the beginning. LaserTag involves players running around the woods hiding, hunting and shooting each other with LaserTag Blasters. Its like a modern day version of hide 'n seek......but waaaaaay more fun.

The LaserTag Blasters don't actually shoot lasers, because most people enjoy using their eyes, instead they use high frequency Infra-Red transmitters and receivers, so they are no more dangerous than a TV remote control - but lets face it, 'Laser Blaster' sounds cooler than 'Infra Red TV Remote Style Thingy Blaster'.

But the Blasters pack a surprising punch, they are accurate to around 280 metres, that's further than a hand gun and not far off rifle distances.

The equipment also houses all sorts of other clever surprises such as proximity sensors that emit an 'Aliens' type bleep whenever you are within 5 metres of someone on your team.

If you get close to an enemy player, the Blaster talks to you, giving you a "Danger" enemy close message and if you are taking fire and its getting close the clever electronics give you a "Warning" enemy fire getting close message. All clever stuff!

Shoreline is the only venue in Wales to use these new style Blasters and as they are so lightweight and easy to use players of any age can take part in the games. So who exactly players LaserTag?

“I thought it was a kids game until we tried LaserTag for our Football Club Social. It was fantastic. It was totally knackering, but really good fun and the kit is quite clever telling you when you are close to a friend or enemy, when you get shot and when you are dead. We really enjoyed it and the boys want to come back again in the summer. “
