in Accounting Charles J. Pineno, Ph.D.,
retired in August 2013 after a long and
accomplished career in business education
for more than 40 years. After joining the
faculty of Shenandoah University’s Harry
F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business (Byrd
School) in 2004, Dr. Pineno served on the
faculty senate, chaired the Information and
Technology Committee and participated
on several Byrd School committees. He
was selected to serve as adviser, secretary
and treasurer of Beta Gamma Sigma, the
International Business Honor Society. He
has authored or co-authored 20 journal
articles, 26 proceedings articles and 30
paper presentations. Dr. Pineno was
recognized twice by the Byrd School faculty
for outstanding scholarship and once for
excellence in teaching. He traveled to
China with a group of MBA students in
2008 and, more recently, to Al Akhawayn
University in Ifrane, Morocco, where he
presented his research and publications
to faculty and students. Since 2011, he
served as director to the IMA Research
Foundation and as associate editor for the
Academy of Business Disciplines Journal,
co-sponsored by Shippensburg University
of Pennsylvania and the Byrd School.
Eldon R. Lindsay Professor of Economics
and Finance Clifford Thies, Ph.D.,
had two articles accepted for publication.
The first, a single-authored piece in
Academic Questions, compares the
rankings of presidents by scholars to
various assessments of their performance
by the general public. His second article,
co-authored with Gary Pecquet of Central
Professor of Business Law John Winn,
J.D., and Associate Professor of Political
Science and the Henkel Family Endowed
Chair in International Affairs Eric
Leonard, Ph.D., co-presented “The
President, The Constitution and War
Powers,” a panel discussion moderated by
Eldon R. Lindsay Professor of Economics
and Finance Clifford Thies, Ph.D., as
part of the university’s celebration of
Constitution Day in September. Dr.
Winn has written articles in scholarly
journals and law reviews in the areas of
business law, constitutional law, cyber
law, national security and professional
Ethics. Dr. Leonard is the author of “The
Onset of Global Governance: International
Relations Theory and the International
Criminal Court,” as well as articles and case
studies on humanitarian law, theoretical
conceptualizations of sovereignty and
global governance.
Associate Dean and Professor of
Management RT Good, Ed.D., SPHR,
GPHR, earned certification as an
administrator of the Highlands Ability
Battery, the premier career guidance
assessment instrument. He also earned
certified facilitator status for the Student
Leadership Challenge, a program that
provides 360-degree assessment feedback
and development guidance for students
seeking to advance their leadership
competencies. Dr. Good hopes to make both
assessment tools available in the forthcoming
academic year to help students gain the most
from their business school education.
