there’s one thing you should know about 16 year old Skye Tucker, it’s that
she’s one pretty cool girl. This talented teenager is the daughter of Britt and
Renee Tucker of Timmonsville. She has one younger brother, Trace, with
whom she enjoys playing video games, such as The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy. Britt and Renee are proud of the young woman Skye is becoming. “She is a warm hearted, caring individual who has a love for God. She has great character,
strong moral values and is a leader. We gave her the nickname ‘TinkerBell’ when she was little
because she looked like Tink, but it was Skye’s attitude that reminded us the most. She always
knew what she wanted, and would go and get it.”
Skye is becoming well known around the community for her beautiful artwork. Britt shares,
“As long as I can remember, Skye has been drawing. She would sit for long periods and just
draw. Around three to four years ago, she started drawing in our craft room upstairs. One day,
she came to me with a drawing. I did a double take after looking at it! I asked her if she drew
it, and she said yes. Renee and I were amazed.” Skye adds, “I remember drawing a unicorn in
5K. I also had a drawing entered into the State SCISA art competition that came in second place
when I was in the second grade. Drawing makes me feel better. It’s fun! I hope others will like
my art and that it will make them feel better and be inspired somehow by it.” Out of all of her
drawings, her favorite is of the God of Thunder, also known as Thor. Last October, she added
another to her list of talents - costume designer. “I started sewing last year and learned by
watching Mom.” Although it is challenging to make each piece look as authentic as possible,
there’s nothing quite as rewarding than being able to wear what she has put her hard work and
dedication into. So far, her favorite is Cloud’s costume (from Final Fantasy).
She is currently a junior at The King’s Academy in Florence, her home school since 5K. “I feel
blessed to be able to attend King’s. It is a private Christian school, and I have made a lot of great
friends there. Our new headmaster, Mr. Hiltibidal, is awesome. I really think a lot of him. He
has always been very nice, and everyone calls him Mr. H.” Although she loves art, her favorite

subject is chemistry. “It’s because of the labs and experiments we get to do. They make it more
interesting.” This past year, Skye was chosen to be a member of the National Honor Society and
Beta Club. She’s also been a part of the JV volleyball and Varsity soccer teams. “Of the two, my
favorite is soccer. Playing with my friends, and getting to travel and play other teams was fun.”
Skye will graduate in 2016 and is considering The Savannah School of Art and Design in
Georgia. “Next summer, I plan to attend one of their summer programs to learn more about
the school.” Britt, however, would love for his daughter to become a Clemson Tiger! At the moment, she’s not sure what she wants to pursue as a career, but she would love to incorporate
art and missions in some way. Missions work is something Skye holds very dear to her heart.
“One of the things I love the most about King’s is Mission Week, during which King’s sends students all over the world. This past year, I was able to go to Israel. I have also been to the Bahamas, and one year, I stayed home and volunteered at a local food bank. We also visited an adult
daycare center.” Skye hopes to travel to Asia in the future. “The people are very interesting, and
the land is beautiful. I would love to visit China!” In addition to her work through King’s, she is
heavily active in her church’s youth group.
In addition to drawing, sewing costumes and video gaming, Skye enjoys engaging in archery and playing the piano. “Playing gives me joy!” She also loves watching her two favorite
television shows, The Walking Dead and Once Upon A Time. Her favorite movies are The Chronicles of Narnia and Disney’s Frozen. Most of her time spent outdoors is with her horse, Dixie
Angel. “I have been riding since I was 5 years old and have competed in riding competitions
through CEC, the Camden Equestrian Circuit.” In addition to Dixie Angel, she also has one dog
(Clifford) and eight chickens that reside in her backyard. “My favorite is Greg, a white Silkie
chicken. When he sees me, he runs up to me and follows me wherever I go.” A firm believer in
miracles, Skye also believes that others should be honest, caring and give back when they can.
No matter where life may take Skye, she’s going to be just fine with God on her side. “I really
don’t have one person as a hero, but if I had to pick one, it would be Jesus. I believe in Jesus
Christ as my Lord and Savior. Going to Heaven is important to me, and through God’s grace and
faith in Him, we are saved.”
