Sdifferences .

Sisters Blythe and Malorie Harris are not quite two years apart . Blythe is 7 , and Malorie is soon to be 6 years old . And as sisters generally do , they share many traits in common but also have a few very telling
Both girls love to go to the beach . They will play all day in the sand and entertain each other happily . They also like to play with their baby dolls , play school , and dance – making up “ shows ” to perform for their mother . The girls insist on sharing a room and are very protective of each other . According to mom Jennifer Spivey Harris , they hug and love on each other daily , and have a bond like no other – a forever love that can never be broken . They can also be judgmental , bossy , and jealous of each other ! But they will get upset and bored when the other is away .
Older sister Blythe is a tender-hearted and compassionate child . She will get upset when others are hurting and want to fix whatever it is to make it better . Jennifer remembers that even as a baby , Blythe had the sweetest demeanor . She has a love for everyone around her and wants everyone to be happy . She wants so much to help out that Jennifer sometimes has to ask “ Who is the mom here ?”
Baby sister Malorie tends to rule the roost . From the day she started talking , the family knew she would be strong-willed . Malorie is quick-witted and quite the jokester , too . They never know what she will say next , but it will usually be followed by a compliment . She has daily encounters with people , telling them how pretty their hair is or that she likes their shoes – leaving them with a smile . She can be quite a “ goofball ”, but is just as loving as her sister .
The girls have very different opinions on animals , however . Blythe loves all kinds of animals , especially dogs , while Malorie is terrified of even the smallest puppies . In order to help the situation , Jennifer decided to adopt a puppy . It would be wonderful for Blythe and would perhaps give Malorie a new perspective on animals . They settled on a Labradoodle puppy and isited with it from birth until they could bring her home . Piper didn ’ t stay too long .
Malorie spent her days sitting on the kitchen counter and insisting that baby gates be placed around the house so Piper couldn ’ t “ get to her ”. They tried everything to make it work , but ultimately Jennifer had to sit down with Blythe and say they had to make a choice – it was either Piper or Malorie had to go . Fortunately , Blythe chose to keep her sister . And Piper found a new happy home .
Another trait the girls do not share is sleep habits . Blythe and her mother appreciate a good sleep . They like a nap and enjoy sleeping in when they can . Malorie , on the other hand , is an early riser- up before the alarm sounds , and never napped as a baby . She just doesn ’ t require as much sleep time .
When asked why they love each other , both sisters gave precious answers .
Malorie said , “ Because she is weird . She ’ s weird and can bend in funny ways because she is “ jointed ” and because she is my best friend . She looks pretty and is so nice to me . That ’ s all . Wait ! And she acts like an old grandma sometimes .”
Older sister Blythe shared this : “ I just do . I love her because she is my sister and she is nice to me most of the time and lets me help her . And she is cute and has good long hair and is my best friend too .”
The girls have ideas about what they want to be when they grow up . Blythe said she wants to be a teacher and a mommy . Malorie prefers to be a nurse and sell Matilda Jane like her mommy .
No matter what they ultimately decide to do and be , mom Jennifer knows this : “ Parents will pass on and children will grow up and get married , but the love between these sisters is forever .”
Blythe Allyn Harris , 7 , and Malorie Blaire Harris , 5 , live in Florence , SC with their mother , Jennifer Spivey Harris .
