My love story is about how God answers prayer in the most unexpected ways . I prayed for a husband , and God sent me a great man who treats me like a queen . We are special because our differences bring us closer together . My husband is 14 years older than I am . He is white , and I am African American . Finally , I am a southerner raised in Florence , and my husband is a Yankee from Buffalo , New York .
I never thought I would marry an older man , but God sent me my husband and life has been great with him . I encourage women who have not found love to keep praying and wait . Trust Him , and He will send your true love , just like He did for me . God knows what ’ s best and I ’ m glad I trusted Him and married my husband .
I first saw Jim back in 1998 . He had just moved to South Carolina from Pennsylvania , and I had recently started working at Pee Dee Mental Health . I was asked to do a medication compliance group with him . I thought he was cute and quickly developed a crush on him , but at that time he was newly divorced , and the timing was all wrong .
In 2011 , I finished up my doctoral degree program , and my mother threw me a party . I had stayed in contact with Jim via Facebook and invited him to the party . I wanted to get to know him better because I always liked his sense of humor and he was always really nice to me .
After that party Jim asked me out — he says he had thought about it before but was afraid to approach me lest I turn him down ! So our first date was July 13 , 2011 , and it was wonderful ! Jim took me to dinner , and the conversation was exciting , and I did not feel at all uncomfortable . It was as if we had dated for years ! One special thing I noticed about Jim at dinner was that he only paid attention to me . I had been on other dates , and the guys would look around and not pay attention to me , but Jim only had eyes for me . After dinner , he took me bowling . I lost , but it was so fun bowling with him . It was as if we were the only ones at the bowling alley .
Over the next year , we spent more time together , and I came to love his sense of humor and his sensitivity . He is the most intelligent person I know and so very handsome . Jim says that it was my infectious goodness and happiness got him hooked . I knew Jim was the one because he had all of the traits that I prayed for in a husband . All I could do was thank God because He had given me the desires of my heart , just as He promised in one of my favorite scriptures , Psalm 37:4 . CONTINUED >> mazgaj jamie + jim
