Back to mine and Andrew ’ s first date . He acted like he wanted to tell me something , but kept getting nervous about opening up . Finally , he said . “ I ’ ve watched some of the shows you ’ ve been on .” I immediately wanted to crawl into a hole because I didn ’ t want to have our first date be me explaining my weight and what I had been through to someone who might not understand . Well , the next thing he said was , “ I too have lost a lot of weight . Like , 105 pounds .” I looked up with excitement and relief . We started telling each other our personal journey to health and how hard it had been . We really clicked .
When we started dating , Andrew was all about unique and fun dates , which I loved ! He constantly surprised me and took me to different places . As the years have passed , we now enjoy staying in and playing games or watching movies more than anything . Just spending time together is all we need !
Andrew proposed to me on November 28 , 2015 . He enlisted my best friend to lure me to the Florence Little Theatre by saying she was considering it as a venue for her own engagement party . When we arrived , her car was the only one there . When we walked in , I kept calling her name , but she never answered . Andrew suggested we check inside the theatre . I still had no clue ! When he opened the door , I saw candles , rose petals leading up to center stage and heard music playing . It finally hit me , and I bawled all the way up to center stage .
He got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him . He also had another surprise — behind the curtain were all of our family and closest friends . It was beyond perfect !
Andrew understands me more than anyone I have ever known . Not only through our health stories , but everything else . He is truly my soulmate . We workout together , we motivate each other , we laugh when we mess up and eat a cookie or two that we shouldn ’ t have , we console each other when the mentality gets too hard , we are each other ’ s biggest cheerleaders . I couldn ’ t imagine God picking out anyone other than Andrew to have by my side for the rest of my life . Not only do we want to encourage each other , we want to help and encourage anyone else who feels less than , discouraged , and at a loss in their physical and emotional life .
It is amazing to experience real love with Andrew . I know that I have someone to spend the rest of my life with . We will be by each other ’ s side to confide in , care for , support , struggle with , strive with , and most importantly- be able to show the same type of love Christ shows us , even when we are not worthy .
When we say “ I do ,” we will take on this journey called life together . I couldn ’ t have picked a more loving , hardworking , or encouraging man to be my side for forever . He has truly changed my life .
