Survivor of two heart attacks gives a whole new meaning to living life with A Heart For God
Before I was nine years old , my mother led me and my older brother to the Lord , two years after she had become a Christian . Our family was very dysfunctional . During my growing up time there were no shelters for abused spouses and children . All of us in our home were abused by my dad . There was a lot to work through . Fortunately , God showed me early on from scripture that He allows us to go through certain things so that we can comfort those who go through the same trials .
Scripture tells us there is nothing of the human condition that ’ s not covered by one of the stories in the Bible - sexual abuse , physical abuse , emotional abuse . I think probably one thing that helped me more as an adult was the scripture that says ‘ in Christ all things become new ’. Becoming a Christian doesn ’ t remove you from hard times , but it certainly helps you through hard times . I have seen that over and over . My Dad never became a Christian and he persecuted us because we did . So we had quite an adventure . We escaped to South Carolina from Florida with just the clothes we had on our back . It was just mom and me .
