As I took in all of this , I continued to be amazed at the unity of this couple , and I thought to myself that this venture had no choice but to be successful as it has every ingredient necessary to succeed . I was told that London and Lace is growing every day , and I saw the evidence during my time there as I witnessed a steady stream of brides-to-be coming in , anxious to see Lisa and the pretty dresses that lined the walls of her elegant boutique .
Lisa credits her brides as well for the boutique ’ s success . “ Nearly every day , a bride will visit the shop because she heard about the unique beauty of each gown and what a wonderful experience another bride had there .” The couple admits that no one can tell what the future holds , but they have faith that they will continue to bring joy to many brides . And , Lisa has dreams - lots of dreams !
As if all that I had seen and been told about up to this point wasn ’ t exciting enough , our conversation took an unexpected route when Lisa shared that she is also a wedding dress designer - a fact about which I was clueless until this point in the interview . Years ago , Lisa spent time in California and fell in love with the Redwood Forest . She even envisioned getting married there , but it turns out their wedding took place in Asheville , North Carolina . Lisa now knows that this was the “ meant to be ” destination for her wedding , as the forest and enchanting moments became her inspiration for creating her first collection of her own bridal designs . Each gown has a whimsical , romantic feel with flowing fabrics and delicate , embroidered laces with shades of grey , nude , rose , and lavender . Furthermore , the gowns are made in Columbia , South Carolina . The collection , Landon and Roes , will officially launch in October , but a sneak peek can be seen in the next Flutter Magazine , a national bridal publication .
Because Lisa considers herself a mom before all else , she feels that her son , Leland , and daughter , Emerson Roes ( better known as “ Rainbow ”), are the lifeblood of London and Lace . They are Lisa ’ s reasons for getting up each day and creating her craft . They also are the inspiration for the name of her new design collection .
London and Lace has become a destination for brides from all over the country . They have come from as far away as California , Michigan , and Louisiana – over 20 different states , so far . Brides come for the specific designers the boutique carries , but they also come for the loving service provided by Lisa Kyzer as she helps each bride find her perfect dress - perhaps the one she ’ s dreamed about all her life .
In closing , I have to share that I experienced my own personal bit of wedding dress euphoria while I was with Lisa at London and Lace . Before I left , I shared my own special love story with her and the details of the pretty , vintage 1930 ‘ s symbol of our love , encircling the ring finger of my left hand . The details of the dress I ’ ve envisioned wearing to wed my own Prince Charming spilled out into the room as though I had been holding it in with my breath since the first day of our visit . I told Lisa that though we are not in a hurry at this point and have not even chosen a date , from the moment I knew I would one day marry Dan Shelley , I have seen my dress in my mind ’ s eye , pulled from that special place within my heart where wedding dress dreams are formed . The thing is , however , that the dress is made from my dreams specifically . It
has elements of a few dresses that I ’ ve seen , yet it ’ s uniquely mine . To my complete unbridled and impassioned joy , Lisa offered to create that dress for me . Then , in a daze of happiness - something akin to the moment in third grade when the new merry-go-round was unveiled and I ran to it as fast as I could go , my little legs racing , my heart pounding with so much happiness that I felt as though I ’ d lose my breath - I followed Lisa to a board filled with delicate lace and silk fabric swatches . As I stood there , washed from head to pale pink-painted toes with feelings a woman of my age never expected to experience , trying to figure out if I was going to laugh or to cry , I then chose to go with both . Feeling a little embarrassed , I turned my eyes to Lisa ’ s , and I knew without a doubt that she understood the importance of my dress . It was like I could see my dress in her eyes , in her excitement for me , and in her understanding of the hope my dress would represent .
At this time , we have yet to meet to further discuss my dress ; however , I know first-hand why London and Lace is such a special place . It is special because it is made of the stuff of which wedding days are made : love , hope , dreams , and - sitting at a pretty , feminine desk a few feet from the entrance of the store - its owner , Lisa Kyzer , Wedding Dress Whisperer .
