S usan attributes the enormous success of Jaycie’s Closet to God and to good old-fashioned family values. “I feel my faith in God keeps me motivated and dedicated to my business.  I give Him all the glory. My favorite moments at work occur when a customer comes in and I am able to share Jaycie’s story, only to find out that the customer has a similar story and shares her story with me. It’s a God-thing for sure. And, I always remember the golden rule my mother instilled in me, which I have also instilled in my children. It applies both in daily living and in business.” She also credits community events, word of mouth, superb customer service and advertising in She Magazine. “The business has been blessed and is growing! I have created and accomplished a place that is sacred to me and so meaningful… a place to feel Jaycie’s presence and share her life, while dressing people up and seeing them smile. Jaycie would so love this boutique!” Susan truly loves what she does each day. Every morning, she begins her day with a big cup of coffee. She never leaves the house without her most important accessories - her smile and a positive attitude. These good vibes are radiant throughout the boutique; it’s nothing out of the ordinary to see happy, smiling customers in Jaycie’s Closet. The atmosphere becomes even more jubilant during the Christmas season. 䈀攀搀 ☀ 䈀爀攀愀欀昀愀猀琀 簀 匀瀀攀挀椀愀氀 䔀瘀攀渀琀猀 吀漀甀爀猀 簀 䔀搀甀挀愀琀椀漀渀愀氀 伀瀀瀀漀爀琀甀渀椀琀椀攀猀 “I love the changing of the seasons when our new arrivals start coming in. I get excited about opening the boxes and tagging each item and putting them on hangers and displaying them. I am like a kid in a candy store!” So far, each Christmas has become busier than the one before. “Everyone is looking for that special gift for a friend, a sister, a wife, a co-worker or just a stranger on the street. I love helping my customers choose those special items and seeing the smiles on their faces.” Susan celebrates this joyful season alongside her employees, who have become like family.  “We all are very close, and we do the traditional things that a family would do. We put our Christmas tree up and decorate together. We have a Christmas party and exchange gifts. But, the most important is just being together and celebrating the reason for the season - Jesus’ birthday.” While reflecting on how far she’s come, Susan is amazed. “I’ m sure that I have made it a lot harder than it had to be; but, I have learned by self-teaching and trial-and-error. It has been and continues to be therapeutic, and I am proud to say I did it my way!” While she would love to see the boutique expand into a larger facility within the next ten years, Susan is grateful to have been given the opportunity and, most importantly, the strength and determination to turn tragedy into triumph. “I put my heart and soul into my business. It is my baby.” Jaycie’s Closet is located inside Desert Sun Tanning and Hair at 3424 West Palmetto Street in Florence, South Carolina.
