ith Earth Day and the Global Climate March just behind us and World

Oceans Day only a few weeks away, I hope you are inspired to be proactive in your approach to conservation. Not just to passively recycle but to go out of your way to educate a neighbor or local business to slightly modify a few habits that over the course of a month or a year can make a really significant impact.

Three easy pickings I always yell about are 1. stop buying [plastic] waste you cannot recycle 2. cut down or eliminate meat - vegetables are healthier anyway, and 3. If you see trash on the street, PICK IT UP! What are you waiting for? You don't need to organize a hundred person beach clean-up but picking up one bottle cap on a New York City sidewalk probably means one less bottle cap out at sea.

Every one small action has an impact but modifying someone's habits are a real victories. If you do something good, email me and I'll share your story.

This month we have some great tips for visiting Portugal, an awesome story about surfer Greg Long, some thought provoking news on ocean issues, and much more. Don't forget to take a look at all the trips featured in this issue and on our website under the "Trips" tab to find learn about some exclusive deals on vacations, expeditions, or volunteer opportunities that make a direct impact on conservation efforts in their respective parts of the world.
