long stretch of beach that the road passes alongside, with white, powdery sand and rolling waves. Rampanalgas is accessible only down a steep precipice and is a very rocky beach with many tide pools swarming with sea life. Toco beach is smattered with pieces of coral, deposited on the shore by the tide. Each boast spectacular scenery, beautiful water and lots of sunshine, however, one area that truly entangles every sensation is Galera Point.

The Galera Point is home to the Toco Lighthouse, a beautifully preserved monument that towers above the sea. There is no entrance fee, no real facilities, just you, the lighthouse and nature. A sign at the lighthouse aptly reads "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, kill nothing but time." What a place to kill time, as time truly seems to stand still when you behold the scene after a short walk down a gravel track behind the tower towards the sea. This breath-taking view makes you feel like you are on the edge of the world looking out into oblivion.

Waves crashing, the strong breezes blowing, nothing is more awe inspiring than standing on the edge of this rocky outcrop, suspended high above the blue water and feeling just a bit closer to the heavenly blue sky.

The Galera Point is also a great vantage point from which to view a small sandy bay snuggled into the nearby cliff and if you dare to climb down to touch the crystal clear water. The rocks out in the water are home to many sea birds which dance around in the air looking for a quick bite. Schools of brightly coloured fish stream between the rocks, clearly visible through the glassy surface of the water. There are also some shy Olive Ridley sea turtles living in the surf that pop up to take a peek every once in a while between dives. These elements of nature hit you all at once, awakening the mind and inspiring the soul. This is truly a place to seek out when in search of a deep, raw connection with nature. So the next time you are in Trinidad and Tobago, ask your tour guide or map out your route, pack a few sandwiches, some tropical fruit and have an adventure. This is one of those places that should be on any ocean lover’s bucket list.
