When the 2016 NFL Draft got underway in Chicago, the San Francisco 49ers were better prepared than ever.

The team recently unveiled a new high-tech draft room, putting to rest old white boards and 2,000 player magnets. Electrosonic provided the engineering design, installation, commissioning and programming for the room located inside the 49ers’ training facility, the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara, California.

ELECTROSONIC engaged with the 49ers staff to evaluate the needs for the draft and other functions such as player trades, game and play replays and analysis. Once the audio-visual and database needs were determined, Electrosonic fast-tracked the detailed design and installation process knowing that access would be limited in and around the site, as Levi’s Stadium was hosting Super Bowl 50 in early February. The room would be needed for preparations for the 2016 draft starting in March, with the draft being in late April.

The main challenge for Electrosonic was to understand how the team intended to utilize the new fully-electronic draft room to assess the strengths and weaknesses of prospective draftees. Electrosonic needed to intimately understand how the draft process worked.
