Case Study
Corning ONE™ was chosen for its modularity and advanced software, making it easy to prepare the addition of frequency bands for enhanced wireless coverage.
The solution also enabled AT&T to make sectorization changes without significant cabling changes. Rudy Quant, RF Engineering Manager, AT&T commented that after installing ONE, “it was one of the best performing systems even before it was optimized.”
Optimization is a process of fine tuning after a cellular system is deployed.
The deployment began in August 2016, with phase 1 completed in less than 50 days.
Rudy Quant, RF Engineering Manager, AT&T commented that after installing ONE, “the One Platform was one of the best performing systems even before it was optimized.”
In the end the system set new records for a National Championship game driving record-setting data usage:
~ 3.8 TB which equals more than 11 million social media photo posts
~ Data traffic was up 300% compared to college football games 2016 national average
~ Traffic edged out last year’s College Football Playoff National Championship game in Glendale, Arizona by about 100%
The data points to a lot of cheers, celebrations, and selfies being uploaded and downloaded. Now who wouldn’t have been jealous of those that could attend for the rousing 35-31 finish bringing Clemson to the win?
