Feed the Children and St. Sabina Church came together on September 23, 2014 to help out Chicago families in need, giving them food, hygiene products and Avon products. 800 vouchers were given out to families in need. The event started at 6:30am and went on until 2:30pm. There were volunteers from Feed the Children as well as volunteers from St. Sabina Church, and some of the Peacemakers that gave their time to make this event happen. Family members started lining up as early as 6:00am to receive the blessing. The products were brought in on two tractor trailers and unloaded in the parking lot of St. Sabina Church for a total of 20,289 lbs. of food, 13,214 lbs. of hygiene products and 4,115 lbs. of Avon products for a total estimated cost of $240,998.80. The products given to each family would last an average family of four for up to a week. Each family received:
• 25 pounds of food
• A box of hygiene products
• A box of Avon products
• Frito-Lay assorted chips
• PepsiCo Sierra Mist 2 liter
Some of the sponsoring partners were PepsiCo, Avon, and Jewel–Osco that helped Feed the Children and St. Sabina to be a blessing to 800 families.
