UPDATE on Partners: Chicago Office New Dollars/New Partners Twelve congregations were chosen last fall to participate in an interfaith New Dollars/New Partners training round, sponsored by architect Nevin Hedlund, a Chicago Advisory Board Member, who continues to attend training modules and assist participating congregations. The diverse group of historic congregations includes the non-denominational Carr Memorial Chapel at the Illinois Institute of Technology (designed by Mies van der Rohe), Church of Our Saviour, Greater Englewood Parish United Methodist Church, Hemenway United Methodist Church (Evanston), Ingleside-Whitfield United Methodist Church, Irving Park Baptist Church, Olivet Baptist Church, Second Presbyterian Church, True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, and Unity Temple (Oak Park). The first day of training was held in November 2009 at Olivet Baptist Church with nearly 60 participants. Hedlund introduced them to the process of assessing buildings and completing conditions surveys. In January, Luther Snow actively engaged participants in the assetmapping process during the second module. The twelve congregations will complete their training this spring, hosted by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple in Oak Park and First United Methodist Church/Chicago Temple. The Archdiocese of Chicago has generously sponsored a second round of New Dollars training for twelve parishes, scheduled to conclude in the spring of 2010. Catholic Charities graciously opened their Chicago facility to Partners, hosting each of the modules. Parishes currently participating from Chicago include: Corpus Christi, Our Lady of Peace, Queen of Angels, St. Benedict, St. Clare of Interfaith New Dollars/New Partners trainee, Rev.
