PAGE 8 (continued from page 7) Rocknation: Chris you have two successful and critically acclaimed solo albums “Pure” (2009) and “Only Come Out At Night” (2010). What made you decide to call this release Laney’s Legion instead of under your name? Chris: To be honest, music is so much more fun making with friends and Laney’s Legion is like my brothers. We are having such a great time together. When we were out touring we all just felt like a real band and it would not be fair to call it Chris Laney since we’re all contributing to this sound that makes us Laney’s Legion. Rocknation: Laney’s Legion already released a digital single “Taste Of Your Tongue” worldwide. Will the band release another single if yes what song? Or will the fans have to wait for the “Self Titled” full length CD will be released April 22nd, 2014. Chris: Yes there will be a new single and video out early April called “Poptastic”, a party Rock n roll tune! This album is such a mix in style, everything from Kick Ass Party R’n’R to some heavier stuff and even some with a hint of Country. Rob: I think people will really enjoy it, we sure had a great time filming it! Chris: Hell yeah, love balloons :) Rocknation: Chris you brought in longtime partner Anders Ringman on this recording, please tell us what Anders brought to the table on this release. Chris: We work so good together so it was a no brainer to include him. He is my best friend and I have total respect for him as a songwriter and producer. I couldn’t do this without him. We wrote the lions share of the songs together and just had a great time bouncing ideas. Rocknation: You are handling lead vocals and rhythm guitars. How did you hookup with drummer Patrik Jansson (Hellsingland Underground) and on bass Mats Vassfjord (Grand Design, Scaar)? Chris: I’ve known Mats for ages but when his old band opened up for Randy Piper’s Animal I just knew I had to get him on bass. He has been with me since 2010. Patrik was a guy we found through word of mouth. He is such a great guy and drummer, he also can play some kick ass blues guitar! Rocknation: Rob you are the guitar player in a well known band Danger Danger and have known Chris Laney for along time, please tell us about how you know Chris. Rob: I have known about Chris for a long time and have always been a big fan of his work. We have been sending demos to each other for years and when he played me the songs frpm the new album, (Laney’s Legion) I thought that they were so awesome that I demanded to join the band. ha ha! We always have the best time together. Besides the songs being great, this album also has my favorite guitar playing I have ever recorded. Rocknation: Rob you and Chris joined drummer Stixx and vocalist Zinny in Shotgun (formerly Shotgun Messiah). What can the fans expect from this band? Rob: We are both HUGE Shotgun Messiah fans so doing this with Stixx and Zinny has been so much fun!! We have a few festival shows booked for the summer that were really looking forward too, after that we’ll see what happens! ROCKNATION ISSUE 21 Chris: Yeah, I think it is time to focus on a future with Laney’s Legion! Rocknation: Chris not only have you played in bands like Zan Clan, Randy Piper’s Animal & Shotgun, you are well known as the Godfather of Swedish Glam and Sleaze recording and producing bands like Europe, Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Steevi Jaimz, Vains of Jenna, Babylon Bombs, Dynazty and many more. How did you get started working in the studio as a producer? Chris: Thanks! Well to be honest it started with never being happy with the sound other producers got recording my songs. I have been fooling around with everything from a 4 track Tascams to 2” tapes as a kid. I’ve been in studio environments since I was 12 years old, so I was never really a stranger to production. I think my strength is in always thinking, Song Is King! Rocknation: Please name of influences of other bands that help create your music. Chris: Shotgun Messiah, KISS, Def Leppard, The Beatles, Jelly Fish, Judas Priest, Tim McGraw, Bullet Boys, Warrant, Stryper and WASP. Rocknation: What is some of the music you listen to now? Rob: Kiss, Katy Perry, Def Leppard, Beatles & Jeff Paris. Chris: Kiss, Filter, Def Leppard, Bad City & Robyn. Rocknation: What plans do you have for 2014? Chris: Laney’s Legion will start rehearsing this summer for a tour in the fall. Other then that I will keep on pushing for a project I have worked on for ages called “Dreams In The Witch House”, a rock opera featuring Bruce Kulick and Doug Blair amongst others. Rocknation: Thank you for taking time for this interview and last words to the fans? Chris: Thanks so very very much for all the support and we hope to see you all this year! Rob: Thank you!!
