elcome to the biggest birthday
of the world! Koningsdag,
or King’s Day in English, is a
festival that has been celebrated
for 131 years in the Netherlands. On this day,
you are guests of the King and are invited to take
part in this entertainment. Streets, canals, parks
and basically every city location is decorated with
orange colors for the world’s biggest street party.
Live music, DJ performances, block parties,
festival stalls, and much more awaits you for the
entirety of the day in this colorful atmosphere.
This special date was first introduced during
the 5th birthday of Queen Wilhelmina on
August 31, 1885. Having eventually become the
longest reigning queen, at the time of the first
King’s Day, Wilhelmina was still just a princess.
Hence, the festival day was first commemorated
as Prinsessedag, or the Day of the Princess.

günü şerefine düzenlenir. 5 yaşındaki Wilhelmina
o tarihte henüz prenses olduğundan “Prinsessedag” yani “Prensesin Günü” olarak kutlanır.
