Revive - A Quarterly Fly Fishing Journal (Volume 1. Issue 3. Winter 2013) | Page 81

Strolling through the sweet grass bogs of Scotland with my lovely wife in tow was one of the best experiences I’ve had in my fishing life although I think she may beg to differ. Meeting such an awesome fly fishing friend and immediately connecting to someone in a completely foreign land was a pleasure. Not to mention the brown trout loch fishing was something awesome to behold. This type of superfluously happy feeling that combined culture, friendship, stunning vistas, and solid fishing continued throughout our time in this magical place.

I can honestly say that there are less than 5 places I’ve been that have stabbed me with pleasure repeatedly during a long vacation and this is most certainly one. Moments of clarity seem to be ubiquitous in this place as every vista removes your breath and the feeling of homeliness is overwhelming in a place you have never even been. The culture of it all. True gentlemen and keepers of the old guard standing in a river or on a loch bank. As likely to discuss life matters and politics as to throw a perfectly timed spey followed by an enormous mend. It's all too lovely.

I cannot wait to return to this awesome isle but until then I think I will be content pondering the memories and spreading the fame of this lovely place.
