I often find myself in situations that necessitate questioning of my judgment. Holding on to a kayak through the sunroof of an SUV an hour before dawn with a pounding headache and churning stomach probably belongs in that group. I should have brought more ratchet straps, probably should have driven my truck, probably should have called it a night one or two Twitty songs sooner. But being on the water tends to make me forget what poor judgment I’ve used, everything slows down and rationalizes. It doesn’t matter that my head hurts or that I’m probably too out of shape to confront the 2 mile row ahead of me. I’m here, and with a head full of country gold still ringing in my ears from a few hours ago.
