After graduating from the Parma Art Institute, in addition to working as a painter, she became a professional restorer of fresco paintings. The restoration of frescoes is delicate work, often done on priceless historic treasures. Such intricate processes require tiny sable paintbrushes and tools more common to hospitals. Sabi has thin blades for cleaning, and syringes to inject natural gelatin and glue to repair cracks.
Sabina’s work takes her into ancient castles, churches and abbeys. Working in such places, and so intimately, with centuries-old works of art, is inspiring to someone like Sabina. She has the imagination of the great painters of history and tries to recreate the same atmospheric magic in her own artwork.
