he Federal Reserve followed through on its latest promise to raise interest rates. Fed Chief Janet
Yellen announced a quarter point hike in the federal funds rate Wednesday. But the increase has
little to do with the ripple effect on mortgages and consumer loans, and more to do with a message
from the Fed about the economy.
