YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH “MOM’S ON THE MOVE!” TERRI JACKSON CARSON Moms are special. On any given coaching session women share their life’s circumstances, challenges and or situations in life. Most of these women are moms; many of whom have experienced, divorce, depressions, some types(s) of domestic violence and or disease. Nonetheless, they are women who have a relationship with their child or children that they have raised, adopted and or given birth. I asked a group of young teens 15 to 18 yrs to describe MOM. The responses were supportive, loving, nurturing, coach, everything, superwoman, good listener, warrior, amazing, doctor, the rock, the real MVP, angel, and last but not least, a woman who puts her children first before her needs. Proverbs 22:6 Start children off the way they should go and even when they are old they will not turn from it. This is a scripture that surely reveals itself as children mature into adolescents to adults. When a child is recognized for their accomplishments and or efforts at any age, you often hear, “Love you MOM!” or some type of recognition of MOM. Truly a proud moment which reflects the love and efforts consistently a MOM has shown and given over the years of loving and raising her children or child. A wonderful sense of gratitude. WOMEN WALKING BY FAITH MAGAZINE | 35 I have coined a phrase when coaching a mom of consistency in the betterment of her children and that is, “Moms on the Move” - always in constant motion, taking actions steps to achieve what is best for the children and family. That could consist of planning a family vacation, scheduling physician appointments, grocery list and dinner for the week, trips to grandma and or car pool next week to soccer practice. Nonetheless, listening to the life of a MOM is different yet similar, and the biggest request, wish and or desire of a MOM is to have more time to relax, go to spa, have less stress, and or vacation. Still before any of that takes place, the number one priority for most MOMS is their children’s needs, no matter what the age, where they live, and or their life’s circumstances. It’s in their DNA. For example, when you hear a child call out “Mom!” out in public every mother turns her head as if it could be her child and stays in that stage of awareness to see if that child is in need of assistance. It’s an instant instinct that is embedded in the soul. Its automatic response is it’s time to take action and nurture/love a child and fulfill the need (s). The beauty of it all is the needs of the children are met due to the design and unique woman of God created. Proverbs 31: 25-30. When I asked the same teens if money was not an option how would you celebrate their MOM on Mother’s Day. Many responded, a day at the spa, shopping spree and dinner, a night on the town, breakfast in bed, family day at the beach, whatever she wished, a trip to her favorite city; New York. What they said was beautiful to hear and it was good to know how grateful the children were for their MOM’s. www.realliferealfaithmagazine.com
