If you aren’t convinced that indeed, God does recognize heroes, take a look at Hebrews chapter 11, where God highlights over a dozen heroes for their faith and perseverance by name. Were they the only children of God from all the ages? No, they were the ones who stood out and got God’s attention. I don’t know about you, but I’m an attention-hound and I’m not ashamed to say it. I want God to notice me, and be so delighted that He calls me out by name when He recounts the heroes of our generation. I want to have such a close relationship with Him that the stench and slime of this world is repelled by my garments. I want to love others so well that they feel the tangible embrace of God when I minister to them. I want those things regardless of the reward, but knowing that my pursuit of those things will delight Him, makes me overflow with joy
