and building the Kingdom.
Conversation with Kishma
Dr. Kishma A. George can, in a single phrase, be
described as a Purpose Pusher. She is an
inspirational speaker, mentor, playwright,
producer and author, and her overarching
mission is to inspire people to fulfill their Godgiven purpose.
Letisha: That is truly powerful right there.
It’s true it’s not about us. Someone out
there has a need for what God has placed
inside of us. Glad you accepted the call
God placed on your life.
Dr. George: Exactly sometimes we don’t
understand the impact that we can have
on the life of others when we allow God to
work through us. Thank you I’m grateful
God chose me.
Letisha: Yes, indeed. Dr. George tell us
about K.I.S.H magazine how is that related
to K.I.S.H Home Inc.?
Dr. George: K.I.S.H magazine was created
as a tool to help generate funds for the
transitional home. The magazine was
created to inspire people of all walks of
life. It was created to empower people
follow their dreams. I’ve been truly
blessed to have wonderful people who
thought it not robbery to give time to help
keep the vision alive and let God use
them.
Letisha: I’ve read a few issue. You’ve had
some heavy hitters on the cover. I’ve seen
Wess Morgan, Kimberly Jones-Pothier, Les
Brown, and Cora Jakes-Coleman to name
a few. God has given you some awesome
people to help with the vision.
INTERVIEW
Letisha: Thank you Dr. George for
taking time out your busy schedule.
Dr. George: I am humbled and
honored.
Letisha: You do many great things
for your community. Let’s start with
you telling us about K.I.S.H Home Inc.
When and why was it created?
Dr. George: Kingdom Investments in
Single Hearts (K.I.S.H.) Home, Inc. was
founded in August 2008, out of my
desire to make a difference in the
lives of girls & women in the
community as well as those young
women who are presently in, or have
aged out of the foster care system in
Delaware. During my time as a
mentor I saw the many challenges
these young people experienced
while trying to find their way to a
self-sufficient and stable life. Since
the beginning the goal was to build
a transitional home for young
women presently in or aging out of
foster care.
Letisha: Wow! A great journey
started in 2008. Did you encounter
any trials or challenges in the
formation of your nonprofit or did
everything fall into place all at
once?
Dr. George: Yes. Initially I put the
dream down but God put it in my
heart to pick it back up. Sometimes
when things don’t happen right
away we grow weary and put the
dream down. We must trust God
and hold on to the dream. It’s not
about us it’s about helping others
Dr. George: God has blessed us with
many people who have invested their
time. I just happened into television,
happened into radio. I don't believe in
luck so I would have to say it was divine
providence. Definitely God's plan, not
mine.
Letisha: When did you take an interest in
helping youth aging out of the foster care
system?
Dr. George: When I worked as a
wraparound therapist I was assigned to
help youth transitioning about of foster
care. I was assigned to help a young man
who aged out of foster care. His foster
mother stated that he had to leave her
home. He turned 18 on the day she said
she had to leave the home. I asked her if
he could stay for 30 days while I worked
on a place for him to stay. She said no.
