odd alcoholic beverage. The grounds
were compact but never crowded and as
our block had its own private pool, we
spent a lot of time in the peace and quiet
of our 28 degree surroundings. The eight
restaurants were all wonderful. We only
managed to eat in seven due to a couple
of closures when the resort got quieter
but I could not fault any meal we ate. In
a few of the restaurants, you are able
to watch them cook and there is even
a Teppanyaki dining experience in the
Japanese-themed restaurant which was
incredible. Also included in our package
was room service. The menu was varied
and we ended up being cheeky and
ordering off-menu a few times. The staff
were always happy to help, no matter
how complicated the request or late the
hour!
Half-way through the holiday and we
were all feeling relaxed, well-fed and
starting to see a tan shining through
so my partner Matthew and I decided
it was time to get out and see some
“real” Mexico. We had been discouraged
from hiring a car and doing any driving
ourselves so we instead booked on
to a small tour group of six to go to
Chichen Itza and make a few stops on
the way back. The journey took around
two and a half hours from our location
south of Cancun. The very excitable, but
knowledgeable tour guide managed to
