Pulborough Harvest Fair
Saturday 24 September saw the return
of one of West Sussex’s largest and
most spectacular events, the Pulborough
Harvest Fair, now in its tenth year. The
Fair is organised on behalf of the
Pulborough Community Partnership
and all monies raised go towards local
community charities.
Staff from our Pulborough and Storrington
offices had a great day meeting and
greeting visitors to our stand, many of
whom were longstanding clients of the
firm. Our ‘Guess the Name of the Bear’
competition to name the bear raised
almost £50 for the firm’s charity partner
Rockinghorse. The winning name of the
gorgeously MWB branded bear (knitted
by the very talented Diane) was “Matilda”
and she was won by a little girl called
Emily Maye, along with a massive bottle of
Prosecco for her happy Mum.
The food and drink area, sponsored by
Mayo Wynne Baxter, included beer tents
with local beers from Hammerpot and
Hepworths, a Pimms Pod, a shepherd’s
hut serving delicious Sussex lamb, hog
roasts, spuds, pies, pizza, cakes, I ndian
food, coffee and lots more.
Martin Gray, Chairman of the Harvest
Fair Committee said “It was an incredible
10th Harvest Fair. Our aim is to bring
Pulborough together as a community and
give villagers something to talk about and
be proud of. However, we couldn’t do
it without our fantastic stallholders and
performers, our generous sponsors, our
volunteers and of course the local people
who come along on the day.”
Public Sector Conference
Back in September we hosted our annual
Public Sector Conference at the Amex
Stadium where around 40 attendees from
local authorities and utility companies
joined us for updates on legal issues.
This year, our guest speakers were from 1
Crown Office Row Chambers in Brighton
and Ely Place Chambers in London who
covered a range of informative and current
topics for the public sector.
A night in the Bewilder Box!
Were we capable of saving our race?
There was only one way to find out – by
undergoing rigorous testing and escaping
the Bewilder Box! We were a mix of fresh
blood and escape room veterans.
The puzzles used touch, smell and sound,
immersing you in the room’s mystery and
intrigue. Discovering new items sent shrieks
all around. What’s this for?! That – over there!
We certainly got to know each other better.
The minds behind the local venture wanted
to offer something different and the ‘80s
sci-fi vibe did not disappoint. Bewilder Box
was a truly unique event and definitely got
our synapses firing!
Food Hero
MWB have had a long association with food and drink industry in Sussex and have been
involved with numerous awards praising the great talents we have in the county. Jason
and Amber were invited for the second year to judge the Food Hero category in the
Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Awards in November.
The judging was difficult and the finalist we interviewed were; last year’s winner Henry
Butler from Butlers Wine Cellars, Richard Humphries from Polygon Pop-Up and Kanthi
Kirin Thamma from the Curry Leaf Café. All of the finalists are doing a tremendous job
promoting Sussex food and drink both here and abroad but Henry was pipped at the
post by Kanthi whose boundless passion particularly around food waste bowled us over.
